“ "Claimed By The Highlander" by Julianne Maclean
|
Angus “The Lion” MacDonald is known for his skill with a sword and his ability to kill anyone who poses a threat to him. What Angus MacDonald is not known for, is how to love women, or how to show compassion. That is all about to change when Angus storms his enemies castle, The MacEwen's, and takes back what rightfully belongs to his clan. When Angus thinks no one will challenge him, and that he has officially taken back his fathers castle, out pops Lady Gwendolen MacEwen. Lady Gwendolen MacEwen confronts Angus with her tiny blade and stands up to him. She threatens Angus for trying to take her father's castle from her. Lady Gwendolen MacEwen thinks that she may have a chance to try and save her father's clan from harm by negotiating with the Lion, but soon learns that not even a women can withstand the power of the great Angus “The Lion” MacDonald. Angus immediately claims Gwendolen as his wife and laird of her father's castle. Can Gwendolen withstand Angus's beauty, charm, power, and stop her body from reacting to his kisses? Will Angus be able to control his emotions and sexual urges towards Gwendolen and try and look at his soon to be wife as a only political move? Can these two enemies unite in peace and finally put an end to the hatred towards each other's clans?
Book Two in The Highlander Trilogy by Julianne Maclean will draw you in from the first page. You will want to hate Angus “The Lion” MacDonald for what he did to Gwendolen and her clan, but you will feel sorry for him and all his suffering that he has endured, I know I did. I also had trouble putting this book down and turning out my night light, and trying to get some sleep. Love, Anger, Compassion, Deceit and deep rooted memories will be brought up to the surface in “Claimed By The Highlander” by Julianne Maclean. This is book you will want to keep on your "to re-read" shelf. Please check out this wonderfully written trilogy and fellow Canadian author. It is just fantastic!

“ "Untamed Highlander" by Donna Grant
|
Isla had the perfect and peaceful life living among her druid friends and family. That all changed one faithful day when out of no where, men on horses dressed in black snatched Isla, her sister, and her niece. They are all taken to one of the most horrific places on earch, Carin Toul Mountain. A evil Drough lives and operates Carin Toul on the Mountain, her name is Deidre. Deidre, like most evil creates of her ilk, dreams of nothing but more power. She will stop at nothing to achieve it. This is why she had Isla, her sister, and her niece kidnapped. They all have very powerful magic, and gifts that Deidre can use to control every living thing on earth.
While captured and under Deidre's control, for five long centuries Isla is made to endure daily whippings, and perform many other evil deeds while under Deidre's mind control. It gets to the point that Isla is no longer able to live this hell anymore. Things are going to change one way or the other. What will Ilsa do? Will Isla ever be free of Deidre, or will she die on the mountain of Carin Toul at the hands of one of Dedires beatings?
Donna Grant weaves a spell of magic and sheer excitement in her book “Untamed Highlander.” This is a great book, I just wish there would have been little more action written into the story line. I'll certainly be waiting to read the next book in this series.

“ "Highland Vampire" by Suz DeMello
|
Natasha Desmond has just inherited her Aunt's money and pharmaceutical business. The only problem with the inheritance is that her crazy step brother is not happy with it. He is trying to make Natasha look like she is crazy. His hope is to have Natasha admitted to the nut house. After learning of the plot, Natasha flees to Scotland in hopes of evading her step brother. While in Scotland, Natasha decides to stay a couple of nights at Castle Kilburn that is allegedly haunted by a vampire.
Garret Kilburn is the owner Kilburn Castle, and knows that the castle is haunted by a vampire. When Natasha arrives at the castle, Garret is taken back by her beauty. When Natasha starts being seduced by the vampire, Garret realizes that he must protect her from the vampire, and also try and protect her from her crazy stepbrother as well.
Unfortunately this book didn’t work for me. I found that there was no engaging story line, or personal attachment built to the characters in this book. It was just a whole lot of sex, with not a lot to tie things together. I would like to have learned more about who this vampire was, and why he is killing people and living at Kilburn Castle. I also would have liked to have learned more about Natasha. I don't recommend this book.

Duncan is in for the fight of his life, can he control his male urges, and will he be able to see revenge for his beloved, or will he end up falling in love with his enemies finance?
You will not be able to turn the pages fast enough reading Captured by the Highlander. Just when you think you have this book figured out Julianne will have you re-thinking the whole plot of the book. This book is full of twists and turns, and I just loved it. This is the first book in this soon to be wonderful series. If this is what the first book is like, we the readers are going to be in for a treat. Fantastic job Julianne, I'm so looking forward to reading your next book.

“ “Highland Master” by Amanda Scott
|
Fin of the Battles and Lady Catriona are two unlikely lovers. Fin is a "Cameron" and Catriona is a "Mackintosh." Both families are rival enemies. When Catriona brings and injured Fin to her grand dad's castle, she is surprised to learn that Fin is an enemy of the family. Even though she now knows this, she still can't seem to put Fin out of her mind. Catriona also learns that her brother Ivor and Fin know each other and happen to be very good friends.
Will the Camerons and Mackintoshes come together and unite with war looming on the horizon, or will the war begin closer to home? Fin and Catriona can only hope that their marriage will be accepted by both families and that peace will come between the families.
I really enjoyed reading “Highland Master.” This is the first book of Amanda Scott's book that I have read. “Highland Master” is sensual delight that was a real joy to read. I love how Amanda wrote in the relationship between Boreas, the wolf dog, and the grey kitten. Their relationship is very similar Catriona and Fin's relationship. I look forward to reading the next book in this wonderful series.
